First thing pop the top off the throttle housing and check that the contact points are open(not touching) on the ETC switch after you adjust slack at the thumb throttle to about 1/8" play. If this doesn't help on spark then check the crank position sensor harness connection along the wiring itself for any bare wire that could be shorting out to the engine. These are the first two trouble shooting tests along with some obvious ones like making sure the battery is good, connections are tight,no damaged plug wires. I don't have the 2006 manual, but have a Polaris 2005 700/800 pdf manual which should be the same. So far it doesn't show a good test on the stator harness wiring that I've been able to find, but no stator wire (except only a brown ground wire) should zero out to ground! All should show open to ground. I'll look again, but the manual isn't too clear on some tests.
