Default Some information

Hello everyone. Obviously I'm new to the quad world and am looking forward to getting some great advice and tips from people a lot more experienced then I am.

I recently bought a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4. Test driving the bike, it starts right up and seems to drive fine. I've never had an automatic quad so it was a little weird not finding a shifting lever. I've been looking for manuals and stuff online but can't find anything so I'm hoping I could get some answers.

First, the person disconnected the oil pump system. I've been reading and I'm not sure if I should fix it and reconnect it or just mix the gas. If mixing gas, what is the mix ratio and does the 2 stroke oil matter a whole lot? Again, this quad is just for putting around and taking out the family. No racing or crazy stuff.

Second, the person before me took it to the dunes a lot and there is a lot of sand in the machine. Is it safe to pressure wash it?

What does the over ride button do on the left handlebar, below the run/stop switch?

There is some rush on the A arms and rear axle. I'm sure this is from the salt water, is this something I need to immediately address or part of being a quad owner?

Any other maintenance issues I need to know? What are people's experience with this quad, it seems to be really solid. Any neat or easy tricks to help improve performance? Thank you in advance for your help.

Pressure wash it,but don't spray heavily on the chains. Mix the fuel at a 40-1 ratio with a good 2 stroke injector/premix oil. Any brand from Penzoil,Wally World oil,etc will work. The left button the the reverse over ride. In reverse it only allows about 5mp or so then it will start to limit unless you push the button that over rides this limiter and allows full power in reverse along with awd in reverse. Just clean it up and grease the chains and lube all the grease fittings.

Zerk fittings from front to back. A -arms,steering post, back of struts, rear swing arm, axle housing, both ends of the prop shaft leading to the front gear case, etc.Just look close and you'll see em. Best if you have a flex hose on a grease gun especially for the prop shaft u- joint zerks. Any good grease now is usually lithium or moly lithium based.

So found the zerk fittings but noticed something. So it looks like the previous owner disconnected the oil injection system. How do I know if the system is working or should I just leave it alone.

I also noticed a line going from the reservoir tank to the front differential. With the oil injection line disconnected from the motor, do I need to keep oil in the reservoir tank so the front differential has oil?

If there is a block off bolt on the intake manifold(drivers side) this is where the original injector line went. A lot of people do block off 400 pumps as they are at the front and subject to water and mud and corroding up. If you've been premixing it just keep what you're doing.(40-1 recommended) The line at the bottom of the coolant reservoir tank goes back to the side of the radiator by the radiator cap, this is a surge tank that does take coolant from the radiator and returns it when needed. The front differential has a atmospheric vent only, doesn't tie to anything but vents up the frame. This line appeared to be coming from the bottom of the oil reservoir to the top of the front differential.... I can see if I can attach a pic

The line at the bottom of the oil tank goes to the oil pump housing unless the previous owner has done something? The oil tank has a separate vent along with the front diff, but some models have "T" fitting that can tie several vents together.
