02 700 Sportsman blows oil out dipstick tube when running??

Do I have to go the dealer to get the input shaft seal? Crank seal is dry as a bone after wiping it off and letting it run while watching the seal for nearly 45 minutes so I feel good that the crank seal is okay. How can you tell if it is the Ducati ignition system and if so how would I update it to the better one?

Probably about as cheap to get the #3233874 seal from a dealer. You can find em cheaper here, but shipping costs would probably kill any savings.Polaris ATV Parts, Seals, Bearings, Bushings & Seals
Just look at all the posts on Ducati ignition problems on 2002 to early 2004 model 700s. They all will go out, just some will give you a little warning, other owners have killed the machines only to come back and find that they won't start back up.Here's the pdf instructions and parts list on the updated kit. It's not cheap (around $450),but better than being stranded.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.aWM&cad=rja
