Broken Mechanical Seal
Hello all:
Looking for some help/advice since this is my first time posting on this forum. I own a 2006 500 Polaris sportsman EFI with coolant leaking from the weep hole, so I proceeded with the repair by removing the mechanical seal, using a puller and as I was removing the seal the seal broke and the cup part of the seal remained in the casing, any suggestions to remove the remaining cup?

There's a special tool for pulling the seal, but you're past that now. The main thing is to NOT damage/bend the shaft or the engine will have to be split to replace it. I've had to do a couple that people brought in that they made a mess of things. "IF" you're careful a small sharp punch around the lip of the seal(without gouging the case) to where you can use a pair of pliers to pull the metal part of the seal out. You can still take it to a dealer and shouldn't cost that much to pull the remainder of the seal it and replace it. It's a lot cheaper than if you bend this shaft. The tool costs as much or more than what the dealer would normally charge. https://polaris.spx.com/Detail.aspx?id=119&cat=1&sub=24
