Looking at the wiring diagram for a 2004 , the brown wire supplies power for the oil level light and tail lights , can you tap off of that wire ?

Thanks for the tip! I think yours might be a 2 stroke? Mine does not have an oil light. This is a 4 stroke, however there are 4 wires "brown, red, purplish\black, and? can't remember the last one". I currently have it tapped into the red, and it seems to be a "hot", and not the accessory\ignition wire. Worse comes to worse, I can always try tapping into each. I bought a 12v Klein test probe, but the lines are just not powerful enough for the probe to detect.

Winches are also handy to use as a tie down if you trailer the machine around.
TLC, I couldn't agree more! It does look cool on such a small machine! I couldn't believe what a perfect fit it was. This install came out better than our 2013 Honda 420's. I'm wondering why people haven't attempted this before? There is no way this winch will reach max load, where the amps will skyrocket. We are looking at 350lbs for the rider and machine. The use should be minimal at best. We use the winches for tie downs also, saves a strap.

Looking at the 2009 manual that O.P.T. sent you it's still the brown wire that is positive when the key is on .

Hmm, I don't see the manual that OPT posted? I only see a link to find parts. Am I looking in the wrong spot?
