Default Won't rev past half throtle

2004 Ranger 500 6X6. Runs great, starts everytime great. Just will not rev past 1/2 maybe less throtle. Would like to know where to start. Inline fuel pump, electrical, carb, or eleswhere?

If you still have the original fuel pump(4010658 marked on the pump body) we did have problems with these. It updates to a 4011545 pump. Seems to me there was a bulletin on this years ago,but it wouldn't help you now. Just to eliminate this as a problem, pull the fuel line from the carb, have a container to catch any fuel, and turn the key on. You can tell quick if the pump is the problem or not.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
If fuel flow is good, then a good carb cleaning and carb kit may be needed. Could be as simple as trash in the jets, plus don't over look the simple things, plug, air filter and intake manifold on these models. The carb has a "tamper" proof top cap to where the diaphragm and slide needle aren't supposed to be serviceable, but the rivets are actually screws and can be removed with small pliers if needed and replaced with metric screws. http://www.ebay.com/itm/POLARIS-RANGER-500-4X4-02-06-CARBURETOR-REBUILD-KIT-CARB-REPAIR-/290946548788?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43bdc40434&vxp=mtr

We replace a bunch of pumps on this model. Glad you found the problem.. You might check on Ebay as some after market pumps are available,BUT don't know how reliable. Can save you a few bucks over oem.http://www.ebay.com/itm/FUEL-PUMP-Polaris-Ranger-500-RANGER-400-Replaces-4011545-4011492-4010658-4170020-/231012945730?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35c971cf42&vxp=mtr
