Exclamation 2000 polaris 500 sportsman went dark.

aight fellows heres the deal. I have a sportsman 500 thathas just 1400 miles. got it fixed and running good. took it on the off beaten path and well to say the least it didn't hold up. I had gotten the shifter in a bind in reverse. broke the shift linkage. it will go into hi and reverse. but lingage broken in low gear. did I do any damage to tranny? then as I was riding I shut the atv down to cool off as you all know it is liquid cooled. started it back up and all the electrical system went to crap. no lights, speedo, awd or nothing. then I tried to drive it out of the woods and boom, the antifreeze started to pour out of it. so I shut it down and got someone to pull me the rest of the way. now, theatv does pull start with the key in on position. but nothing else works. nothing electrical works at all. can you fellows try to help me out? I appreciate all the info. have a good day.

Common problem on the shift box to lock up on the older models. Once you get the linkage replaced make sure the lever's in neutral and adjust the linkage ends to where they drop straight into the shift box levers with NO resistance. As far as the electrical problem, start at the battery and connections first. Then check the sealed 20 main circuit breaker up from the battery. Check that you have power from each side of the sealed pouch. If not this could be the problem. This little square circuit breaker is available at most auto stores. With no power to the fan it can overheat in a hurry and spew out coolant. Item #2 is the circuit breaker.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
