The local NAPA didn't have a large choice so I went with Mobile One 0W/40.

Good choice, might as well bought their NAPA 1357 Oil filter while you were there and got it all over with.

I have always believed that even more important than using a good oil is changing it frequently.
I worked for a diesel repair shop, we had an old 70ish shop truck that the boss had bought new. It finally had it's first rebuild at just over 300 thousand miles. That old 350 hauled all kinds of heavy stuff, diesel engines, pulling broke down rigs into the shop, service calls. that old truck was a work horse.

It had oil and filters changed every 3000 miles like clock work.
