Default xplorer counter balance

Hi I have a 95 polaris xplorer 4x4 I just bought, the engine was all apart and I'm putting it back together but which way does the counter balance go on is it the heavy side down in line with the crank flywheel key? I'll post pics later

See if this helps. Item #8. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Look for the small punch mark on one of the sprocket teeth as it faces outward and aligns with the mark on the counter balancer gear. Install the counter balancer and hold down bracket first. The case needs to be heated to seat it.Then you can see where to turn the crank shaft to install the other sprocket and to align it's mark to the counter balancer gear punch mark.If you don't have a manual here's a pdf service manual that goes into detail on this.Index of /ORV Manuals/Polaris/1985-1995 - All Models

Scrape all that old red silicone off before you install the new case gasket! From what I can tell looks ok,but make sure you don't have any up and down play on the rod if you haven't installed a new rod kit.Tough to have to go back in for a bad rod bearing later.
