Default 2000 425 expedition leaking gas

Yesterday noticed dripping gas in trailer and made me think the last tank of gas sent really fast. I fumbled with the hose and clamp in the dark and it stopped dripping but not really sure where it was coming from. Seems to be holding gas now but wonder if there are known issues. Google told me there have been problems with the carb leaking but not sure and appreciate any experience. Thank you.

Gas probably dripping through the over flow.If you haven't rebuilt the carb may be time for at least a new needle and seat. Also check float level. With carb held at an angle with the float tab barely touching the float needle, the top of the float to the bowl gasket should be .051 (13mm) You can bend the tab to adjust if needed.

So I replaced clamp and thought it solved the problem. Only time it leaks is when transporting on trailer. It's dripping every time it get somewhere. Unfortunately it's always dark in the am going hunting so I bring extra gas just in case. It stops dripping as fast as it starts so I'm looking forward to digging in after the season. Let me make sure you are suggesting begininng with replacing the needle and seat? Are the just screw in and out parts or any adjustments needed. I'll look for parts now. Thanks

Needle and seat and it's o ring is the most common wear item followed by the float pin, float level adjustment, and in worst cases the float assy itself if it's wobbly on the float pin posts and wallowed out inside where the pin rides. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...2000&fveh=5531 Needle and seat just pushes in.
