With electrical anythings possible, especially if you have an ecm module instead of a regulator rectifier that controls charging, fan operation, starting, etc. These especially could cut all power when they short out. Just use your manual and go step by step on the electrical trouble shooting checks.

If I put in a new starter solenoid and I have power to the hot terminal but not to the other terminal when I turn key switch, is this ignition or fuses or ground........?

Should have power to the small red wire that powers up the solenoid. It comes from the ignition switch. If you don't it could be a short in this wire or the ignition switch itself may be shorted out.

He's dead on. I don't want to recommend another site but this is were I posted my original issue. As my last post on that thread mentions I believe my regulator was my main issue along with a corroded red wire (ignition) but in the troubleshooting process I blew up the new CDI. Most importantly be methodical. Can't say that enough times.

Last thing I would say is get the electrical diagram. The full diagram. Not just the ignition or charging.
