well,..last summer reverse gear started messing up on my 95 explorer 400 4x4, skiping stripping kinda bad day,..so i backed it under my shed an left it setting till few days ago,..drug it out in the open an noticed back wheels draging,..thought i put it in netral when i parked it...so jacked it up put freash gas in it an pulled the rope, fired 2 pull!! and both back wheels went to spinning,...cut it off an went to checking the shifter,..feels like its in neutral an any a temp to shift give lots of springed like tension,..so removed shifter rods an tried shifting trans with channel locks,..nothing doing!! so i commenced on transmission removal,...al man what fun this simpla task was....nottt!!!!! well got it out,..now what to do?? got a buddy that re built his an was doing bout the same as mine so im probably gonna be buying a lotta his brand beer!! but wheres the best place to get good parts for this 1341157 type III easy shift transmission an all so gonna be needing a berring for the front 4wheel drive chain eccentric head ache as its all but seized up!!

The silent chain(#36) is usually the problem along with checking the low and high gear engagement dogs (#32,39) and shift forks for excessive wear(11,12) Even a circlip that's jumped the slot on the shaft can lock up a transmission. This is about as cheap a online place as any,but you can also check Cheap Cycle Parts,Partzilla, etc. Always replace the chain anytime you split a gear case.Gear case bearings if needed can be found at any bearing/auto store by using the universal number on them.
