Default 2011 500HO Hard to start

I have a 2011 500HO and since it was new it has been hard to start cold. After it is warmed up it starts fine. I tried all positions for choke, throttle. Is the idle adjustment all in the cable on the handle bars or is there an adjustment on the carb itself. If I adjust it on the cable cold it is way too high after it warms up, and the opposite if I adjust it warm, way to low and stalls when cold.

Don't try to adjust the idle using the throttle cable adjuster. Adjust the throttle cable to where there is only 1/8" slack at the throttle lever and then tighten the adjuster lock nut. The carb idle adjuster is at the bottom of the carb held in place by a wire spring clip that often breaks. Item 22,23. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse If the spring breaks the cable lays on top of the starter and vibration causes the cable to back off and idle usually drops and you have to constantly keep adjusting the idle.I had quite a few do this and used zip ties, etc to hold the cable up.Plus there's here's a video on adjusting the throttle slack.
