P.O.S. Polaris reverse

I know it's suppose to be normal, but why is it that everytime I put my Polaris in reverse I have to man-handle it?? It will pull to one side...hard. I have to yank the handle bars back and forth a few times before it's back to normal. Sometimes it does this going forward after using reverse. This is a pain when my wife rides this tank and can't get it to go straight again. Or when at the end of a trail or stuck in mud....you get the idea. It used to only do this when using 4x4, now it seems to do it almost everytime. Anyway I can disconnect this feature, or whatever polaris chooses to call it??

PADZZ, it doesnt sound normal to me. Once when i first got the quad I had one of my hubs lock after i turned off the AWD and started forward again, but it hasent done it since. It never did it going into or out of reverse. Seems like one of your hubs is not working correctly. First thing people suggest is to change the hub fluid. If that doesnt fix it then identify which hub is locking and take a look inside. good luck gj

This is a pretty straight forward problem. It is simply a hub locking on. If it does it in 2wd as you imply then it is certainly not right.
As GJ stated the first thing to do is change the fluid. Get clean stuff in there and make sure the level is correct.
Is there adequate (or any) fluid in there now? If now, it is no wonder the mechanical hub is locking. Is there water in there?
This is an area oof the quad that warrants attention. There is no need to check it on a daily or weekly basis, but it needs attention periodically, particularly if you are having problems.
Don't ignore it. It works well when it is maintained correctly.

I'll check that out, thanks. So it is not the same place where I change the transfer (?) case fluid?? And there's a place for each side to change the fluid?? I sems that it steers to the right everytime. What side would that indicate, the right??? Thanks again.

I sort of have the same thing happening to me now & then but it seems to me it's one of the disk brake that kind of sticks. I'll pump the hand lever a couple of times and so far it works. Whether this has anything to do with the hubs I'm not sure but it's a thought.

You ghange it at each wheel go to each wheel you will see a allen screw in each hub unscrew it and turn the wheel so it faces down let it drain now turn your wheel so the hole is at 3 oclock pour your hub fluid in till it comes out put your allen screw back in and tighten it thats it.
If you want to clean it out good take the cap off on the hub but it should not be required

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if it pulls to the right, doesn't it mean that the left hub is locking in and still getting power while the right hub is unlocked and spinning freely?
