2011 Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI
#1
I'm pretty sure my fuel pump has went up... checked fuses...all good....cant hear the pump turn on when i turn the ignition, cranks fine.... and I have read on other post that you can use other types of fuel pumps that are cheaper too.... does anybody know if a 2011 Polaris 800 EFI has a substitute pump cheaper than the $300 one they offer. also I was wondering if anybody had a video out on changing it yourself instead of using a dealer or could point me in the right direction for a good service manual to be able to follow.

Here's one guys post on replacing his pump.
"For those of you who have a Polaris Sportsman 500-800 EFI ATV, here is the fuel pump fix.
First, tell the dealer to pound sand when they try to sell you a $900 tank assembly to replace just a pump.
The OEM pump appears to be an Airtex E8198 with a FS111 fuel strainer
O'Reillys sells a Import Direct E16205 pump with strainer. Cost about $86.00.
You'll need a couple inches of 5/16" fuel line and 2-4 clamps. (4 if you replace all the line in the tank) and 3 zip ties.
The pump is almost an exact replacement. It's about an inch shorter than the OEM. Being so, I neede to extend the Black (negative) pump wire inside the tank. I secured it with a single zip tie. The pump is secured by the OEM to the pickup assembly with 2 zip ties, so that where the other two go.
All told, job took about 3 hours or so not rushing a bit and cleaning the fuel tank"

years ago we found a replacement pump from airtex(as mentioned) that was a great replacement for as you can see way cheaper then replacing the entire fuel tank. I read in 08' that Polaris changed the fuel pumps for the efi's for all the issues they were having.

Yea, finally on the 2012 800 they do offer a fuel pump "rebuild kit" that's only around $340.
Item #1. Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse And it's only about 100 bucks less than the complete tank assy..
And the "kit" according to the oem part # is a complete pump assy on ebay..http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Polaris-Sportsman-500-800-Fuel-Pump-Sending-Unit-Gas-ATV-2204308-/201118210787?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ed3945ae3&vxp=mtr
