I would think it would be hard to tell if it was belt noise or from the trans area.seems most of these i hear have some belt whine. But you did say no noise in reverse. So i would say its what ever bearings are under load? in foward range? Be interesting to see what the fix is. How many miles is on it.I know in the car repair buisness we generally see some traces of metal in the fluid with trans noise problems. But not in all cases

ALWAYS replace the silent chains since you're already in there. They should be fairly tight with no appreciable slack.Pull the gears out, check the shift forks, engagement dogs on the gears. If the dogs are worn down replace the gear along with the mating gear.Slowly turn each bearing to feel if there are any rough spots. At times all I've had to do is just replace the chains and seals if everything else checks out ok.Reverse is normally gear to gear driven and usually doesn't make noise like the chain driven forward gears.

Than i would assume there must be a fair amount of miles on this machine if the chains are loose like that ?

No idea how many miles are on it. These don't have speedometers or hour meters. By looking at it and seeing the shape of the rest of the quad, I wouldn't think so. It's super clean and tight all the way around. Seems to have been taken care of for the most part. I'll post some pictures of it later when I get on my computer

Problem on these sport machines are that most are driven harder than a utility atv. A lot of stress on chains, gears, bearings belts and clutches.

Clean as hell. Got some parts ordered today. Should have them by early next week.
