ok, thanks for the feedback. just didn't want to put the entire machine back together and have an issue.
I figured it was just due to friction of new components, rollers etc.. or a roller barely touching the side of the ring gear, etc.. I put a light coat of grease on most parts to help with assemble and breakin. i'm sure it the grease causing the rollers to stick a little.

Pics of the rebuild. All new bearings, seals and armature plate.
It cleaned up pretty well. All the old stuff was shot. old bearing rolled like rocks and allowed for shaft play. everything is nice and tight now.

Nice to see a clean rebuild one. Good luck with it.

I was going to do a rebuild guide to help others out, but forgot to take the pics of the cage and rollers etc.. going back together.. but figured the pictures would give anyone a good idea of the internals.. and its a fairly easy rebuild. Hardest part was finding time to do it. Highly recommend a press for the bearings or using the oven and fridge trick that work sometimes.

Had a single burner hot plate and small fridge in the shop that were quite handy for jobs like this along with a press.
