2000 Scrambler high pitch whine
Hello,
I own a 2000 Polaris scrambler 500 4x4 and today since there is still no snow in my are of NY i decided to ride it around. I was riding around and then i started to hear some high pitch whining sound from it. This only happens when the machine is in forward, when its in neutral no sound, and reverse. I rode around the house once in reverse and nothing happened.
Anyone what could be causing this to happen?
Thanks

Check the obvious first such as chain and sprockets. If they are ok could be anything from a bearing whine in the rear housing, prop shaft u-joints, or more than likely a bearing or silent chain whine from the gear case.Especially the bearing on the gear case out put shaft. This is the one that has the most load on it.You can try to change the agl in the gear case and see if it helps. If it doesn't you may have to split the gear case. If you do always replace the internal chains and seals.
