Oh yeah, I remember now. Why they call it a 450 makes no sense. Its nice to get more displacement than you expected but I just don't see the point of handcuffing a great engine. 45 hp down to 31 hp is a big drop in performance.

They don't list torque, I've been told the 450HO has more than the 570.

They did not do so well with the ETX replacing the 400HO (455cc 30HP ) using the same engine and tuning it different makes more sense.

I've never regretted buying mine, not everyone needs more HP. 31 will not embarrassed you, and with all the torque, you will get as much done .

I guess in the end I'd accept less hp if the difference in price was significant. $500 difference is barely any difference at all. Though for $6000 you can get a base model Yamaha Kodiak 700 and I'd pick that over either of them. I'll take the extra 130cc over either Polaris model. I know this is the Polaris forum but in my opinion the Kodiak 700 base model is the best value no matter which brand you look at. Nobody else offers that much displacement for even close to that price.

Can't get a Kodiak up here for that, $8,499 base. If I'm spending that much I'll get an Outlander. They are a better machine than the Kodiak IMHO.

Polaris still offers the best bang for the buck.

Thanks for all the input. I was hoping everyone would point one way or the other to help me decide. Anyway, back to my originally question, is there any other differences between the two units that you know of? Or is the engine tuning the only difference?

Aside from 24" tires, I think they are the same. People upgrade tires, so no big deal.

Looks like either one will work fine for you. The 450 model is really being produced for users just in your situation. Personally, I would put that $500.00 difference towards the plow setup and call it a day.

That's what I am thinking, the same dealer has the Kodiak 700 for $5999.00. I have never researched those machines though.... its still another $500. Like I said before the displacement is not a huge issue for me so I would be more concerned with features, feel, ride, etc. I am guessing in the Polaris forum the Kodiak won't get many votes.

For $500 more get the DOHC 570 with the extra 15hp and EFI.

The newer 455cc Sportsman has a full sized chassis like the 570 unlike the smaller 450H.O with the mid size chassis of the 300 Hawkeye that had the 24" wheels a few years back.
They don't list torque, I've been told the 450HO has more than the 570.
Not sure how a 455cc single will have more torque then a 570cc single? As the saying goes "Their is no replacement for displacement".

If the 570 was a twin then maybe it would have less bottom end grunt.
