Any grease that meets the NLGI No. 2 spec will work. I ,personally, am using AMSOIL grease in my 99 Sportsman.

I have been using Quaker State marine grease, and it meets the Polaris reccamendations and I checked with my dealer about it too and they said ok.

Someone told me not to use the Quaker State stuff because they had problems because of it. At the time I had already bought it and decided to use it anyway. So far no problems (and lots of mud & water rides), but now it's out and I am not sure what I will get.

Wal-Mart carries NLGI no. 2 grease, $4 for a pack of 3 tubes if I remember correctly...

Grease is a cheap way of keeping your atv at peak performance(how much do you use in a year anyway).
Buy a good grease and forget it.
The same thing applys to oil.
DON'T skimp on it and it will take care of you.

I use Hydrotex lubricants around the farm and their grease has more "tack" than any other grease I have used. It stays put and won't wash out. Really nasty stuff if you get it where you don't want it but I wouldn't use anything else.

Happy trails

I too have been using Quaker State Marine grease. I noticed after reading this post that the tube say nothing about NLGI no2 specs or any other specs for that matter. Should I change before I experience a wallet whopping failure?
