Bear,
My personal experiences with Yamaha Motors Corp. has been NOTHING but terrible. I've owned a 98 Grizzly and a 98 Big Bear.. both were problem plagued and couldn't be trusted to get themselves back to the trailer under their own power. I can't count the number of times that my girlfriends Scrambler has had to tow those Yamahas out of the woods. On the good side, I don't own either of the Yami's anymore!!!...

I own a 2000 Xplorer and love it. I've owned Yamaha and Honda and so far they seem the same to me in reliability. I guess it depends on what a persons definition of Maintanence is? Got a friend who thinks as long as he washes it off at the car wash it should be ok? And it depends on riding style.
I have had no trouble with any of them. but my favorite one is the Polaris, maybe becuase it sounds like my snowmobile?

dont ever wash your 4wheeler off at a car wash , the high pressure water eats at your seals and the water will get all in it
