Default 1993 trail boss 350 liquid 4x4

Hi, I just picked up this 93 350L 4x4. I'm new to quadding the machine seems pretty good I have rode it a couple times. The only problem I am having is the battery is getting drained if I leave it for a day. I am looking for some advice on trouble shooting, the only thing I can find so far is the killswitch doesn't work. Iam wondering if that has anything to do with it or any tips on what I should start looking at. Thank you for your time

Crank it up and check the voltage at the battery. Should be around 14 volts or so when you give it throttle. If it is charging then the battery is probably junk, wont hold a charge and needs to be replaced. If it just shows battery voltage(12 volts or less) check that the regulator wires are all hooked to the terminal board. You have to pull the plastic to get to the regulator.Item 32 in the thumbnail pic. Blown regulators are the most common cause if it's not charging. #4060087 Rectifier Regulator FITS POLARIS ATV 4060193 4060087 NEW | eBay Also if you can't kill it with the ignition switch probably someone disconnected the black kill wire from the cdi. If that's the case then there was a problem in the left control switch, ignition switch or their wiring.Or the cdi kill circuit could be faulty internally and the previous owner didn't want to replace it.

I took the battery back when it first happened they told me it was good. If I pull start it at the beginning of the day it charges back up and the starter and everything works good for the day until I leave it sit overnight.
Thanks for the quick response

Did you check charging rate as it's running? If it's at least 14 volts, then you could have a parasitic voltage drain. The manual can help on that, plus it's worth the 9 buck cost for future maintenance and repairs. 1993-1995 Polaris 250 / 300 / 350 / 400 ATV Workshop Service Repair Manual Service Manual;polaris 400;polaris 350;polaris 250

Plain old 60/40 or 50/50 will work as most all coolants are for aluminum radiators. You can go with Prestone,Peak, etc. Doesn't have to be a designated atv branded coolant as most of these are the same as auto coolants. Engine Ice is good but expensive, same as some of the other additives out there.

Default Battery draw

I used a volt meter there was 11.8 volts draw. Started pulling wires at the box and found when I unhooked the red wire that stopped it. Still not sure what is going on but after I hooked everything back up I have no lights anymore

Red wire is the power wire to the regulator. When you pulled the wire that could have popped the bulbs. 11.8 volts while at an idle? If so usually the regulator is faulty. Should be showing around 13.5 to 14 volts at the battery at an idle.To eliminate it being a stator charge coil problem you can check resistance between the yellow and yellow/red stator wires leading to the regulator. Meter set on ohms resistance there should be a small resistance reading between the yellow and yellow/red stator wires with no yellow zeroing out to ground. If this checks out there are plenty off cheap regulators on Amazon and ebay such as this for 16 bucks. Rectifier Regulator FITS POLARIS ATV 4060193 4060087 NEW | eBay
