No Spark after rebuilding water pump on polaris 1999 explore 400L
#21
Update: received the new ignition coil and installed it. Still no spark. Gave up and took it in to a local polaris dealer, explained everything I did, they called the next day and said its the CDI, and that they ordered a used one online because they don't make them new anymore. After about two weeks they called back and said the used CDI didn't work either and they found a pinch wire by recoil, they repaired wiring and it ran but machine was not charging so they installed new voltage regulator and mach is charging now and running. Picked up machine today and they charged me $415, the lights on the machine still do not work, they claimed all the bulbs are blown and to replace the bulbs. Don't know if I agree with that but the machine is starting and running now. The speedometer does not work either, don't know why the dealer didn't fix these issues, hard to find good help these days but they did get it running maybe they figured the machine is just to old to stick more time and labor into it. Anyways thanks again for all your help Polaris Tech.

Bulbs could be blown. Speedo if it doesn't register speed or mileage could be the hall effect sensor on the front caliper bracket. If the display is dead, could be another matter like on these posts.http://forums.atvconnection.com/pola...ml#post3232409 KA7OEI's blog: Repair of the speedometer on a Polaris Sportsman 500 4-wheeler 18 year old machine and you can tie up a lot of money on one. You just have to know when to stop.
