yes I've done the load test twice already. I even had lights on and cranked it and it dropped just below 11 volts and low 12s when just cranking and no lights.
Do you habe any idea why the rpms don't read at idle but work when I throttle?? I'm starting to think they might be the cause. Maybe a bare wire or something. Not sure where the speedo gets the rpm from

so I took the battery in between my two jobs today to Advance Auto told them I wanted it load tested that is what he gave me I said that's a load test you said yes those readings I gave you earlier but the voltage and cranking amps so technically he didn't do the right thing? There is a different test he could do to load test it? sounds about right the guy I usually deal with there wasn't there this kid probably had no idea but I even said that is a load test he said yes

Stator sends the 3 yellows to the ecm module, ecm sends signal to the speedo y/r pin. Go through the speedo pin test chart in the manual. Problem may be there or in the speedo display itself. 2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 Service Manual PDF Download

Well I'm getting out early so I am going to try testing the speedo and those wires I might just buy a cheap or used stator. that's really the only other thing that could be causing it correct? The machine is in close to excellent condition but you never know there could be a wire that is bad not even sure if that would cause this

Same thing with a new ecm and battery supposedly checks out ok,then sounds like that's all you have left to replace is the stator. Beyond that I'm about toast on this machine..

I'm completely over it lol. Last 3 sportsmans that I've worked on all had electrical issues. Whether it was tps, or shorts. Stress is overkill. I need able to figure them out with your help eventually. Don't give up on me noe OPT 😂
. I know either way its not the way to go but wouldyou recommend a cheap stator or a used oem stator? I'll let the owner decide if they want to go with a new oem if it ends up fixing the issue afterwards down the road. I'm taking battery back up to have it properly load tested just to be sure. I'm also going to see if I can rent a better meter.

I'd take a chance on a cheap Calrtric stator. Don't ever buy used electronic parts..

well I just redid the wire tests on the stator. I had my wife this time to hold it around 2000rpm while checking acv all 3 wires were at 20vdc at idle and all 3 were at just over 40vdc around 2000 rpms. I tested them all combinations as well as short to ground and also ohms. Everything checked out?? No clue. The ac test was the only one I wasn't able to complete before due to dumb reasons.
So just to clarify...short to ground test shouldn't go to 0 correct?
