Default Getting it running

I have 1997 400 Sportsman bought new but has been sitting for 2 yrs. when put up it had about 11/2 gals. Non ethanol gas in tank. I put 11/2 oz. sta-bil in tank. Decided to fire it up and replaced battery , and fired up after about 25 sec. Ran and idled about 40 sec. Then died and won't start..........drained tank gas, installed new spark plug then tried to restart. Just turn over and over......trash downstream from tank and old gas??? I'm not a mechanic but not afraid to take on what I need to do. Just Not sure what my steps should be. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.
thanks, schatsmo

Sounds like a no fuel issue.
I would grab a fuel filter, and clean the carb.

Sitting for 2 years I'd throw in a good cheap carb kit also.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shindy-Carb...Vaj4TP&vxp=mtr

2 years is too long to sit even with Sta-Bil in the gas.

This is the Mikuni carb you have. A lot simpler to clean/rebuild than the 4 stroke carbs.
