Starter problem.

Default Starter problem.

Recently bought a trailboss 325. I'm trying to get the electric start working.I bought a new solenoid but still nothing.It has the push up starter switch,and you have to get it in just the right spot for the fan to come on.Im thinking it may be bad.Can I jump straight to the starter with jumper cables just to see if it will turn over.And it does pull start.

I haven't looked at schematics. Have you? Have you checked for voltage on both sides of starter relay? Solenoid? Not familar. But jumpering, if you know what to do, can tell you something. So can a meter.

Yes you can jump straight to the starter post to test the starter motor.

Default Dumb Question!

So from my truck battery go to battery ground on the atv and hit the starter post with the hot lead?..Just don't want to burn anything up...thanks.
