I guess I'll be the one that's number 101, like the dalmations. Anyone ever ride Silver Lake in Michigan? I'll try to get this topic going more. Who would buy a K&N air filter? They cost a lot more than UNI's and offer less filtration and less air flow! $120 for a Power Kit from K&N that consists of a filter, jets and a needle, filter cleaner and oil, and a prefilter, I think that's a little too much to pay. Also, what kind of sprockets are better, steel, aluminum, or stainless steel?

Rooster,
I've rode at Silver Lake. I have both a K&N & a UNI filter. The sprockets I don't about, mine are still stock.

Rooster, The steel sprockets are by far the better buy. They will outlast the alloy, about 3 to 1. I always used steel on my 600. The alloy ones will start to cup quite soon, and then they will take your chain out. The go fast bunch on the dirt bikes change sprockets and chains a lot. They like the less weight. With us though, what are 2 pounds on a 600 pound machine.
Later, Dave

The pictures from the Quad Dusters site
are wonderful. I saw some stuff that
quickly convinced me of two things:
1. I really need another quad so
my wife and I can go further.
2. I have a lot to learn about riding
quads. I would not have dared some
of the places shown in the pics!

Rooster,
I use the K&N at the sand dunes. I usually use the UNI in the middle of a dry summer when there is alot of dust though. I really can't tell tooo much difference. Though my quad does seem to run the best at night with K&N. Could just be coincidence though....
c-ya,
ps> Both filters are stock sizes in the stock airbox.
