I don't know wich one would have the top speed. I would figure the Sportman would. I haven't ridden a new Auto Cat so I would have no idea. I know my 454 will do somewhere between 55-60 but nothing over 60, but I would imagine the new 500 cat might hit 60 or a little above.

Bushhog, 55 1/2mph? Is that on a Sportsman or an Arctic Cat?

Yo atving,

Got any Sportsman 500s in your area that would like to race with you?

Ok you guys you want to know what one of the fastest is. It's off the topic but I'll tell you anyway. The Polaris Sportman 400 L. That thing will fly. My uncle owns a 97 model and It will move. He said it will top out fully pegged at 66. Thats one fast bike. It will definetely outrun my AC 454 by a long shot. As you know it is a two stroke and chain driven.

I have only riden each for short periods.
The cat seems to jump out faster to me.
Maybe it is just lighter feeling.
The SP500 just keeps on pulling...
faster than I have dared to to go on a
borrowed machine. My Magnum 425 says 48 to
50 on the speedometer but it is jumping
around so I'm not sure how fast it is.
I do know a really good suspension is
a godsend at top speeds.
When I was trying different tire pressures,
I soon learned over inflated tires and high
speed do not mix!

Evensen Magnum 425 looking at two new
Cat 500 or SP500.

Guess what I have found is that 500sp, for some reason doesn't give you the feel, of moving as fast as you are.Have seen this said buy testers in magazines to.Has anyone else had this experience,or is it just me.COB

Corncob, yes I've noticed that already. It's like driving a go-kart at 60 mph and then jumping into a truck or minivan and going 60, the truck or minivan will seem like it's going maybe 20! It must be the rather high seat height that gives that effect.

I think it's the ride. it rides so smooth that it stays straight doesn't jump around and it's high seat hight doesn't hurt.
