Default 2008 Polaris

2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO
I’m wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction as my front end goes into awd intermittently but usually just doesn’t work?
ive changed the diff oil thinking that would do it as when I emptied the old oil I found a table spoon of what looked like water and a tablespoon of dirty oil. Certainly not 255ml as recommended. We’ve been looking for a ground disconnect but have seen anything yet.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Discoverer 😀

usually a non working awd in the newer bikes such as yours is a broken roller cage in the front end.

I have the same machine and have had lots of trouble with breaks/shorts in the wire harness leading up through the handlebars. AWD quit working once and machine would start and die one other time...both were broken wires. It seems like polaris didn't leave enough slack since most of the wires I've had trouble with were broken right in half and others are piano string tight. The last time I had trouble, I tore the whole harness apart and soldered in more wire.

I haven't had any wiring problems with mine except for a battery cable coming loose a few times. I should check it more often instead of waiting until it won't start. Hopefully we'll find out what the OP's problem was.

Thanks for your reply’s. I managed to replace a few wires and got the AWD working forwards but only kicks in backwards sometimes. Haven’t figured that out yet.
