Default Choke lever

Quick question. My father in law broke the lever off for the choke control on his xplorer 300. Looking at the parts fiche, without taking it apart, I cant tell if the lever mechanism on the pod is hard connected to the carb or will the cable come out of that mechanism and connect to a new mechanism? I cant find just the cable, so not real sure what I need! And he didn't want to mess with looking at it!! Help!

I believe his is a 95. So it appears that I should be able to order the mechanism and reuse the existing cable?

Thanks for the help fellas. I ordered the choke lever and a carb kit to put in. It's for my father in law and he had a rat's nest in the airbox. I am going to rebuild the carb for him. Can you guys give me an insight on factory settings on the carb? He has messed with it so putting it back to where he has it proves nothing. I am looking for needle setting, idle screw setting and air fuel screw setting. I don't have a service manual for it. 95 xplorer 300 2-stroke. Thanks guys.
