Can I change to a larger rear sprocket and gain bottom end on my 00 Trailbos 325? What is the stock tooth count and what should I go to? Almost all of my riding is in trails, so top end is not very important to me.

Well, I checked things out at the Polaris Web Site under ATVs-trail tips-product manuals-2000-325 trail boss and it lists the 42 tooth rear sprocket as standard equipment with the 11 tooth front sprocket as standard equipment.

This was cross referenced against the Rocky Mountain ATV catalog.... Bottom line, you are already at the lowest Polaris gear ratio available. Unless... somebody knows of a custom sprocket that can be ordered. Good luck

Sidewinder Sprockets can make bigger rear sprockets than the 42 that comes stock. I thought about going that route myself. Before you go to all that expense (since with bigger sprocket you will need longer chain) try the white clutch spring. I am well pleased with the affect it had on my Boss. It is only $20 at the dealer and takes 45 minutes to change. It will feel like you are geared down on the bottom but you don't lose any on the top. BK

everything i read about this made it sound like a complicated process, but all i did was clip and tape of one wire and it works like a charm. no probs with reverse and neutral lights, they work fine. i'll look tomorrow at which wire it is and let you know

clipped the gray wire/orange stripe, taped it off and everything works as planned.
