How much faster is Grizz than Magnum 500?
#2
Believe it or not Myself and a good buddy of mine with a 99 Griz tried that yesterday. We drag raced on a wide dirt road about 300 feet several times, I really expected to get dusted but much to my surprise it went better than I thought it would. Heres how it went 4 times straight. He would jump me around 2 lengths on the holeshot at about 50' I would pull up to his rear wheel but could not pass him. The grizz seemed like it accellerated harder right out of the hole than my magnum 500 but I seemed to really come on through the middle. Then they both seemed to top out about the same, never tried any long runs so I don,t know what would have happened on a stretch run. I know my 500 will run 57 , my friend says hes hit 60 on his grizz but it took a while to wind it out.

One of the first things you need to check is to see if your throttle is in fact opening all the way sometimes the cables will be a little out of adjustment after you break the machine in and they won,t open the throttle completely.

Bill;I have been considering changing springs at least on my 500 . I would like to have a quicker engagement. When I put the 26" tires on mine it seemed to effect my holeshot a little and as you can see by my post that appears to be my biggest weakness in a drag part of it might be my reaction time but I am certain a diffrent clutch setup would help. What color spring were you running in your Sportsman ? I am trying to get some opinions on this from diffrent people before I change anything.
