I have been trying to make my 00 Trailboss go on a diet. Hell I've even lost 25 lbs since Feburary myself. I removed the rack, installed a DG alloy bumper for the 400 sport & scrambler, and also removed all the extra mud flaps. I seen a Yellow trailboss at my Polaris dealer with a DG bumper and polished aluminum rims. I asked them how much the rims cost and they said about $75 a wheel. How much weight will I save using the Aluminum rims over the stock ones? Are they worth the money?
If I can't reduce the weight and make it faster I am probably going to sell my Trailboss. My father said he might buy it to use during hunting season. I've looked into a sale the dealer is having on the 01 500 Scrambler 2x4 for $4,899. Does this sound like a good price to you people? And does it handle like my Trailboss? How much faster will it be? Top speed?
I am also looking into a 01 Yamaha Warrior for $4,999. I rode it and loved the speed and acceleration. I really don't want to spend over $5,000 for a quad.
What other faster 4-strokes are there under 5 grand? I don't really like the 2-stroke quads.

Any one installed an exhaust on TrailBoss yet?
Let me know which has the best HP increase.

 

As far as the rims go I bought mine from recreation tire which advertises in dirt wheels, I got a set of Douglas 160's for $150 delivered, I didnt notice any increase in power, They just look so much better than painted steel
