02 Polaris 700 y pipe getting cherry red after a few minutes or riding
#1
Hello Atv connection my name is Mike and I’m new to the forum. I have an 02 700 that I just bought with tracks and plow. Approximately 3300 mi. It ran really bad when I got it and needed a ton of work so I went through it from front to rear. Some of the work I did was new top end, rebuilt carb, drain fuel tank, all new fluids, filters , spark plugs.
It now runs great! Starts right up instantly, plenty of power, idles perfect. BUT the Y pipe glows after a few minutes of running. I checked the plugs and at first they were white with black around the edges. I found a torn intake boot so replaced it. Ran better but still glowing. Did a compression test and got 150. Removed muffler and took for a spin and still glowing. Removed carb and noticed the Amazon rebuild kit I bought came with 157.5 main jet and a 162 was in it so I put the original 162 back in. Runs good but still glowing. Removed plugs and now all black so it doesn’t seem like it’s leaning out. I’m running out of ideas. Maybe late ignition timing ?
Please help!
