Default Fuel Tank Leak

Can always smell gas so I thought I would have a look. The 2 lines at bottom of tank looked wet around the fittings that screw into bottom of tank. They came out by hand. Planning on replacing the fuel lines, but are those fittings supposed to have an o ring or something to prevent leaks. I can’t see screwing them back into plastic tank and not leaking.

I am not familiar with what is missing there. Certainly doesn't look like a good setup at all.

Similar to many small engines, like weed eaters, chain saws.

When I come across leaks around fittings like that I use JB weld when installing the fitting. Seems to work well. Basically gluing the fitting to the tank instead of depending on an O-ring, or other mechanical means.

I will try the JB Weld, it’s been mentioned in some other posts.
