Can anyone tell me what my possible problems could be with this information?
I am rebuilding an 05 Scrambler 500 4x4. It had no start no turn over. Just to save time on the post here's the current situation. New parts list on the ATV since tending to it: New battery, CDI box, ECM, Starter, Bendix, Ignition coil, Ignition switch, and stator.
At this point the engine turns over consistently using the ignition switch or key, but I have no spark in the spark plug. I suspect that the problem at this point is that i mounted the stator incorrectly. The reason behind this is because while disassembling the original stator, the bolt connecting the grounding cable to the timing cover broke in half still lodged in the hole. Without being able to extract it I ultimately decided to mount the grounding cable to the same bolt which mounts the stators pickup sensor. Could this be the cause of my no spark.
Using the knowledge I gained from research, its my understanding that the stator in this engine will send a signal to the cdi box triggering the ignition coil to send spark. But with my limited knowledge of basic circuitry I do not know if a ground cable repositioning would be enough to cause this problem. The current mounting position of the stator ground cable indicated by the red circle. The original location of the grounding cable seen in the image located bottom left of the stator.
