I wonder what materials the so called "heavy duty" pads are constructed of. I think sintered metallic pads are the way to go particularly on Polaris gear.

I ordered my brakes from a place on the web. Shipped to my door, under $65. Brakes are for a 98 Sportsman 500. I plan on doing more business with them,,,, Don't like my dealer!!

Later, RedDog

Jack, here is a clip from EBC's webpage:

If you have had customers who run ATV’s in wet, mud, farm, or utility condition, or even beach patrols in sand & salt water, then EBC Brakes NEW "SV – Severe Duty" series sintered metallic ATV Pads are the way to go!

A new higher density compound, with low disc attack characteristics, has been formulated by EBC Brakes and is available NOW for ALL popular ATV part numbers, including the full range now for Polaris, Arctic Cat, and of course, every part number know in the Japanese ATV range.

All's I can say is these better last a while. And I am not going to use the brakes as much as I used too, hehehe.

Jack, I read that article about the 500 too. Pretty interesting, but how much difference do you think there is between the DP stainless rotors and HPD's vented fronts (which go for $50 per pair)?

Looking at EBC's site, they do not have rear rotors available for any Polaris model. Matter fo fact they dont have any part #'s for a '99 Sport. They do list part #'s for '98 Sports and '99 Scrambler 400's but apparently they use different front pads (according to their chart) as the part #'s are different, hmmm...should I go with the '98 Sport pads or the '99 Scrambler 400 pads?

The DP & HPD rotors sound cheap, compared $99 a pop from EBC. I might need to look into those.

And Jerry, I would try calling someone who sells EBC pads and asking them if they have them for your bike. A lot of times websites don't get updated like they should.
