Tires for Scrambler 500 4x4
#1
I would like to replace the stock tires on my 2000 Scrambler 500 4x4. I would like to buy a kit .190's and tires. According to Polaris they say you must maintain the 1" ratio in height between the back and the front tires. Is this true? What would happen if you didn't? And what about the rims they're 10's Can the size be changed also. All the kits I see advertised none offer the sizes I need. I looking for Mud sharks or something similar with alum .190's. Any help greatly appricated.

My brother put a set of .190's on his Scrambler. He has 20x11x9's on the back and 21x7x10's on the front. There is some flexibility in the tire sizes as far as the 4wd is concerned. I didn't like the height of the 23's on front, so I put 22's on the front of my '99 SC500 and the 4wd works fine.

Stock sizes are as follows
Rear - 22-11-10
Front - 23-7-10
Replace the wheels with ITP .190 alloy, ITP Part Numbers
Front H154152 10x5 (same as Yamaha Banshee etc
Rear H184400 10x8 (only for Polaris)
As for tires, I always recomend Holeshots in stock sizes. Unless you are doing deep mud or sand, Holeshots are the best all round trail tire. I also like the look of the Bandits, and they are available in stock sizes now as well.

Take a look at the pictures of my Scram with Bearclaws on it they are 23x8x11 fronts on .190`s with stock Polaris width and off-set. The rears are 22x12x10 on .190`s with stock Polaris width and off-set. I purchased all 4 through Chaparral as front & rear kits on wheels about $420 to my door. The front wheels had to be made special but there was no extra charge. I think it`s because they are not that popular is all.
The rear`s are identical to the stock Titans in height and the fronts are a little taller than stock. What this does is it makes the AWD engage instantly no slight lag while the rear tires rotate 1/4 of a turn.
I`ve had them on for about a year and have had no problems. The Kenda Dirt Devils in the same sizes is another good option.
HTH Good Luck !!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone...EasterEgg the pictures look great. The Bearclaws look good with the .190's on the Scrambler. Just what i'm looking for, a tire more aggressive towards mud...
How long did it take for the special order on the fronts?
I also have a trail bike and will most likely put Holeshots on it. But not this season (so the wife says) yeah right!
