I haven't seen alot of plows, but my choice would be a Moose Plow. They seem way heavier duty tyhan the Polaris ones, IMO.

I purchased the polaris v plow with the sportmans deluxe mount. Unfortunately I didn't get it until after the worst of the snow and never got a truely test it in the heavy stuff. It mounts like a charm and with the wench raizes and lowers with ease.

Good luck!

snowdog,
i have a 60" moose straight blade on my 01 sp 500 and i LOVE IT! i plowed HEAVY new england snow all winter, 76 miles of plowing! i worked the blade as hard as possible- not giving a damn if it broke.(it never broke) it's solid and that's my recomendation for you.
chains, on the other hand, are a total waste of money! i wore mine out using them on the black top in no time and the links snapped! JUNK JUNK JUNK!

also, using the warn winch to raise and lower the plow frayed my cable and it snapped 3 times. it was easy to snip-off the old section and re-attach the hook. no big deal!

I have a Cycle County on my Kodiak. After one season of moderate use, it looks ten years old. I should have gone with the Moose plow.

I have the 48"polaris stright blade on my magnum and I beat the hell out of it with NO problems.I made enough money plowing this year to buy the DUSE.....welll almost
I also have the v-plow with the sp deluxe mounting kit(great mounting kit,no loss of ground clearance). But as tmbk said I dident get mine till after the big snows.
I would highly reccomend the progressive adjustable shocks for whatever you get

I got the 54" warn plow.I didnt care to much for the mounting bracket, they say there is no need to remove it but I beg to differ cause i bashed the crap out of mine on rocks and bent it up a bit. But the plow is heavy duty with 6" mounting bushings which they say absorbs shock and drastically reduces wear. I cant confirm this cause I got the plow after our New England winter.

I bought the CMP plow from shadetree outdoors a few years ago and it is a high quality unit. CMP makes the Moose plows also. I have the 50 in straight blade and have never had any trouble pushing snow without tire chains. I use my warn winch to lift the plow. I think the whole plow package was around $250 without the manual lift, which was about $70 more. Call Shadetree outdoors and 1-888-shadetree and ask them to send you a free catalog. Also, Cabelas carries the CMP plows. You can see them at www.cabelas.com.

I have a custom plow on my 99 sportsman 500 it's a lot more sturdy then the factory ones. My dad's a sheetmetal worker and he makes everything for my bike I will try and get you a picture of it after my front bush guard is done.
My plow bolts on to my frame just in back of or right bedside the back of my foot rest. the frame of the plow is made out of 2 inch square tube stock. it's manaul angle though because a lever angle is just something for me to break I could of got it done but i don't think it's worth it. I'm not sure what grade of steel he used for the blade
but we plowed with it up here all yeah it's funSince you have a 2000 pound winch it should work great i only had a 1500 pound boat winch to run it and when i got it deep in a pile of snow the winch wouldn't pick it up. My dad first built a manul lift plow but he is lazy so he sold that and built the onefor the winch
You might want to check around at the different sheetmetal shops and see what they will custom build you one for. Oh and if your planning on doing ground dozing with the plow i don't think your bike would like you very much

I got the 60" Polaris plow for my 2000 500. I never had any problems with it all last winter, I didnt use any chains, I was able to move 18" deep snow we got before XMAS, from the road to my barn which is over 450 feet, with no problems. Only thing I did was put heavier return springs on the plow, if you hit some ice that had built up, the stock ones would just let the blade fold over too easily. The new ones I put on, were off my tractor blade, made it easier to get ice off the blacktop in the spring. One word of caution pay alot of attention to winch cable alignment with the hook on the blade. I also added an extra stop so when lifting the blade when the stop hit the roller lead I knew it was time to stop lifting.
