After taking my bike on the back of my truck for two and a half hour trip I managed to get about 3 miles out of it when it just died,I checked the fuel, wiring connections grounds etc. and There is no spark. After getting it home I metered out the high tension coil and it is within the set numbers for resistance. So now I am wondering is there anyway to be sure it is the CDI box or is it a case of if everything else works then it's the CDI? If so does anyone know who would sell an aftermarket one? Any help is appreciated.

Binky,
On the same page in your owner's manual, you will also see the continuity check for the stator. Please do not overlook this. A good friend of mine has the same machine as you, had the same problem, and bought a new coil. This did NOT solve his problem. After we performed his continuity checks, we determined he had a short in his stator. Sure enough, once we had the flywheel pulled, on the stator one of the energizer coils for the CDI had melted a hole right through the wax and was causing the open. According to a local dealer, this is a common problem with the 98's. Check this as well before you waste money on a CDI.
