I got my New 00'Scrambler 400 4x4 today. Man its excellent so far.....seeming I cant give it no more than 1/2 throttle. I am loving it and Ill be able to tell you more once I have more riding time under my belt.

I have to ride for 20 hours on 1/2 throttle. Then I have to take it back to the shop for an oil change and a full inspection.

Something else I didnt know is that I am warrentied so that I can do anything as I wish to the quad UNDER Warrenty as long as I dont go into the engine. So I dont have to wait for a year before I can do mods. Woohoo. Although It will probably be 1/2 year or later before I change anything.

Thanks for the support and hearing out my excitment out!

Thanks Guys

congrats on the new quad-its a great machine. never heard of 1/2 throttle for the first 20 hours however. take it a little easy and dont hold throttle at same spot for any length of time maybe, but 1/2 throttle sounds needlessly overcautious.- just my opinion- ive broke in a number of new machines and never heard of that one.

You don't change oil in a 2 stroke.

roaddog, glad to hear you like your new scrambler. they are awesome, aren't they! hey, as far as break-in, i read it right in the owners manual, and the dealer told me the same. break-in requires premixing the first tank, as well as filling the injection, mainly to insure proper function of the injection system. check to make sure the injection oil dropped after going through a tank of gas. then its says vary the throttle, and don't stay at constant speeds for any amount of time, this can cause overheating, and premature wear. do this for the first tank full of gas, then you are good to go. 2 strokes don't require much as far as breaking in. you just have to be nice to them for a few hours. the 20 hour thing applies to the 4 stroke break-in, i saw that in the manual also, since the manual is kinda made for all polaris atvs. oh, also, are you sure about the modifications not effecting the warranty? i was told that it is voided if anything is changed. you know they can very well say...."oh, this caused this to happen, or that caused that to happen". i'm very happy with the performance of the quad, but i know i will be eager to modify come spring time. enjoy

Normal break-in for a two stroke is one tank of gas.

Mosh,

It was $5200 and w/ tax+freight it came out to $5662! Bought it from Champion Cycle in Wilksboro NC. I got to watch them take it out of the crate!

Excuse me on the changing oil comment (DUH!?) I am used to a 4-stroke vocabulary. I am loving the thing, I am just having to get used to all the differt sounds it makes. (seeming i am not used to a polaris or a 2 stroke).

Bigdevil,

These guys are soup up junkies. The man that owns the shop told me that I could do anything as long as I didnt go into the engine.

Thanks for the support!

If you run into a problem, and the dealer can prove that what you added to the machine caused the problem, they won't cover it under warrenty. If you have a problem and they can't prove the part you added caused it, then they will cover it.

I just bought a '00 Polaris Scramber 400 2X4. The price was $4450 (plus tax). I could have gotten it for $50 cheaper at another place, but liked some of the extras I got by purchasing it at Motor-vation in Mehcanicsburg PA.
