My Xpedition can go into reverse without pushing in the button. Ever happen to anybody else. Any idea what's wrong? Thanks for any help or ideas.

That only happens to me in the winter when its cold. I will put it in reverse then later take it out and I can put it back in without pushing the button again. I figured it was just to cold to release. It may be your black box, the reverse actuator going bad? Not sure though. rangerchet

The little black box is a part that was "recalled" on a lot of Xpeditions. When Polaris recalls something they dont tell you about it until it breaks and you question it. Your dealer should be able to help you. I actually paid for my replacement part then later my dealer told me to bring in the old part and he would give me my money back.

DJ,
I had the same problem with mine within a month. It was an early production model, and the replacement had a different part number. My guess is dirt is effecting the geared actuator assy. Mine would engage, but wouldn't release. I had thought about taking it apart and cleaning it, but it was under warranty. They replaced it. I would follow pflects lead though if I were you. I don't know if your bike is early production, but they have modified the actuator. I haven't had any problems since.

Thanks... I'll check with the dealer, & see if they can do anything about it.

The same thing has just started happening to mine. All you have to do is reach down to the black box and there is a little silver "stem" on top of the box. You have to manually slide it down and that will keep it from going into rev when trying to hit neutral. A good idea is to watch the black box, especially the stem, and push the rev button. You will see the stem slide forward or up to engauge rev. When you release the button it should go down, but it sometimes sticks, and doesnt go down, simply push it down that will keep it from going into rev while downshifting. Keep us posted if polaris is going to cover your box, than I'll take mine in also.
