Hey guys, I need some help. My battery died while I was using my winch. I attempted to charge the battery and it was dead wouldn't hold a charge at all. I bought a new battery and it cranked up fine and the winch works without a problem. Here is where it gets weird though. My reverse light works but that is the only indicator light that works. My headlights and tail lights are out also. I checked and the pod light (high beam) was blown but all the others are fine. My question is where do I need to start looking for a problem. I think there is a in line fuse close to the battery but I don't think that is the problem because my winch and reverse light works. I thought that because the pod light was out that it might leave an open circuit and if I get a new light it will close the circuit and everything will be fine??? Ok last question can I pick up the high beam light at a part store or do I have to go to the dealer for it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

As far as I know there are no fuses. The headlights you have to get at a dealer or www.bigbuckatv.com
Have you checked each indicator light with a continuity tester or by jumping them on a battery. Sounds like you have knocked all the bulbs out that were on when the battery went dead. It can happen.

Your probblem was when the battry shorted out it sent a power surge from the stator to your lights blowing all that were on a open circut. You will have to get the dash lights from the dealer but your tail light is a automotive 1157 bulb and the grill lights take the bulbs out and go to AutoZone you can get them for $7 apiece there they are $25 a piece from dealer. It wouldnt hurt to take the hi beam bulb with you too.

I would also check the circuit breaker(s), there are two on some machines. Looks like a little black bag.

As ftwflh said, the battery was most likely shorted out and caused a surge. You will need to replace all the burnt out bulbs and everything should be fine. If the pod light is history just get an H4 bulb at wally world. The breakers control the fan or the whole system, if it was faulty you would not get any electical to turn on. (it's not the problem)
