All you fellow polaris fans will enjoy this story. At a local mud run last summer that a yamaha dealer helped sponsor and a local ATV club put on I have never felt so good about owning a product.
I knew most of the people that were there exept the group who were putting on the even. The mechanic(120lbs soaking wet) from the yamy dealer was there with his new grizz, Vampires, clutch work, and all smiles. The dealer is big into racing snowsleds and has won many championships (and mentions it often, as I probably would). Today they had come to kick @#$%^&***.
The clubs pres. was there with a brand new Sportsman (non H.O.)but was unable to partisapate because he was anouncing. 100ft pit and the Grizz loozes it's fizz at around 80 to 85ft, with much jumping and jerking the Grizz finally woke up and came out of the cave to finish. All smiles he had made it though for his boss and brand.
Now enter the little old lady senario, well not old but not hanging out downtown either. The pres. eager to see his virgin machine in the mud coherced his wife(bribed with sex I'm sure)to run the black ick. Knowing nothing of the new bike; she was jumping for joy when she realized she had made it 75ft as the crowd tried to yell to her to press the button on the handle bar. She was stuck now and removed her helmet to hear the croud. Finally someone showed her where the button was. She put her helmet back on an drove the rest of the way out with her but on the seat. I'm never going to let that dealer live that down.
I've said alot, probably bored you till your face hit the key pad, but I have to say one more thing Grizzlys SUCK!!!!!!!!!thank you, good bye

Was that grizz a 2002 model?? i doubt it was cause they have lots of power and GC.

was the announcers sp a 400?? cause if it was new it could only be a HO or 400.

My man! up here in the county our dealers are forced to put up with Polaris screwing them over by selling the same wheelers to dealers in canada at 1000's less. This inturn causes dealers on the border to loose alot of sales to Canadian dealers.(my neighbor bought 2001 Sportsman H.O.for 5400$)So this inturn causes ther to be alot of what we call, ah LEFT OVERS!!!
PS. that wheeler I was talking about was a 99 Sportsman
the club was Knowles Corner Atv club Oakfield, Island falls area
the dealer was MaGuire Motorsports
the club puts on great poker runs

Ledebuhr,
I saw a PICTURE of it, I didn't see IT. I still can't remember where I saw it, but it was pretty neat looking.

amy,

man if i saw a pic of a pre-production quad i sure would remember. Do u know anybody that makes the catalogs for Polaris?? maybee they had a pic for the 2002 catalog.

If u saw a Picture of it then u must have some VERY good connections, sence no one on these boards has seen it or even has a clue what it looks like.

the sportsman 500 wasnt a ho untill 2001. they introduced the sp 500 in 1996 and cancled the 400 in 97. we infact own 2 non-ho sp500's. they actually have more low end beans than a ho, but crack the throttle open on a ho and it is eye-opening!

But don't forget they re-introduced the SP400 last year. It is actually a 425cc like the old Magnum 425 and present Xpedition 425. It is nothing like the old SP400 was.
