Don't forget the transmission oil either. Bad post Slinger. You might oughta study alittle before making statements about things you obviously know nothing about.

i have a Xpedtion 4x4 with a lift and k&n filter i have 1,500 mile and had the atv one year. I have replaced this black box three times and i dont ride in much water or mud. I am very pissed off at my atv. everything keeps breaking its in the shop now getting a hole new engine put in. It just decided to lock up on me. Yea i would expect this from a four wheeler that was not taken care of. But I dont ride hard at all and i grease and change all of the fluids every 200-500 miles even thow the dealer say 800 miles. and the peace of crap just keeps breaking. I would tell you every thing that broke on it but that would take all day to list. My friends have Hondas and ride the hell out of them and dont break at all. I am getting a real mans four wheller HONDA!!!!!!!!

i used to have a timberwolf yamaha had it for five years and the only thing i replaced was breaks and break cables 5 times.

and that is the honest truth

POLARIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish everyone would just up and decide their Polaris is a piece of junk and sell them as soon as posible and never buy another one again. That way Polaris will be forced to drop their price wayyyy down and I can get another couple of em for real cheap. Do you think you guys could manage to run Polaris into bankruptcy, or to the edge anyway, within the next year or so? I'll start saving now. For such crappy quads and as few people who will be buying them they oughta go for around $2- or $3000 a pop. I can't wait. A scrambler 500, sp500 and whatever new sport machine they have in the works for under $9000 total!! You guys are absolutely right!! Polaris sucks and no one should ever buy another one ever again! Be sure and pass that along to everyone you know. I will !

I think it was polaris who misspelled Xpedition, which come to think of it should have been my first clue as to their attention to detail.

Sharpe1, I did study it. I studied that while I had it I was walkin' while everyone else was riding. As for the tranny oil, the bike didn't last long enough to check or change it. Now I ride a Kawasaki and don't have those problems anymore. Why work on Polaris when you can ride anything else?

Slinger I can give you about 100 reasons why you should ride polaris, I don't have the patients so heres the top ten:

10. reverse override (who wants to go 3mph in reverse)
9. decent stock tires (not those piddely knobby things, LUGS)
8. large gas tanks (theres not gas stations on the trails)
7. comfortable seats(unlike honda or yamaha's that will send a person with hemorrhoids to their dead bed.LOL.)
6. automatic transmissions (automatics shift faster than humans.hehe.)
5. full floorboard (not half crap boards)
4. most suspension travel in each machines class(no use for suspension when you don't have travel.
3. Macpherson struts (comfortable ride and found on all four corners of the sportsmans independent suspension system.
2. locked true 4x4 ( the rest of the companies might as well call there machines 3x4's.LOL.)
1. True AMERICAN craftsmanship (yes I like to wave the American flag on occation)

urahhhh...now that I have developed a krippling pain in my wrist, I'll leave the rest to you, you must have an educated response you'd like to give.LOL.

My Prairie has all those features you list, Scramdaddy. You need just one of my Kawasaki attributes..reliability. As for the made in America idea, you better think again. You're as Japanese as I am, Polaris is only assembled in the U.S.. Didn't you notice those metric wrenches or how about the engine label with the Fuji Heavy LTD. sticker on it. I believe if you do a little digging that is or was a division of Subaru. Anyway, I'm just glad to have one to ride period. Sayonara

Hummm let me see here no locked front end, no rear independent suspenion, recall on auto clutch system cuz it was locking up and ejecting the rider over the bars.

Kawasaki my be following polaris' shadow, but there far from being a polaris.

Nobody can deny that Polaris has been a great influence to the ATV industry. Lets face it, they have pioneered most of the new features on the quads today. The problem is that they haven't done any of it in a real reliable manner. As far as Kawasaki following in their shadow? Yes they along with all the other manufacturers have incorporated a lot of Polaris first's. I respect any manufacturer who does recall certain problems like Kawasaki did with the Prairie belt, although it wasn't as if tons of people were flying over the bars With all of that said and me owning both brands I can tell you that with out a doubt the Kawie just feels like it has more quality to it. I like my TrailBoss, but this thing makes some weird noises from the tranny(maybe Kawasaki automatics do too?) and it has stalled more than a few times for no apparent reason. Everybody needs to ride more and run their mouth's less and we would all be better off. I swear some people on these forums must get a commission the way they try to sell their favorite brand. Nuf' said! Later

I agree with the 100 reasons to RIDE a polaris, the have industry leading features and technology. But I can also think of 1major reason not to ride a polaris: Can’t RIDE because it won’t RUN.
