My friend has a '01 325 Trailboss and has currently jetted it and now adding a clutch kit. He told me one of the dealerships adv. him not to put a pipe on this machine, claiming it would only hurt the performance. I can't say that I agree with this, but I havn't even seen a pipe made for it. Has anyone put a pipe on this machine? If so, how do you like it? Did it give a noticable gain in performance? Where did you get it and who is it made by? With the jetting, clutch kit and the possibility of a pipe, did it really make a big diff.? Thanks for any input anyone may have regarding this!

I don't think it would make a big difference. Many people say that if you mod up the trailblazer with the same things as the trailboss the blazer will go faster. I'm not 100% sure but I still don't think it'll make much of a difference.

He might want to get the 414cc kit. And don't forget. He'll want an airfilter if he does put the pipe on. Always intake before outake.

It all depends on what you mean by a pipe? You are dealing with fourstroke motor vs. a two stroke. If you are talking just about the head pipe then I would agree. Unless you mod the engine the stock head pipe will be sufficient. As far as the muffler/spark arrestor goes that is a whole different story. You can add these which will increase the flow and decrease the weight thereby giving you more power.

As far as the comment "Always intake before outake" this is wrong. Fourstroke motors work on total flow. The more you can push through the complete system the more power you will make. You aren't going to increase power by just doing one end. You have to do both. Adding a filter just allows more air. Unless the exhaust system can handle that increase you're not going to increase power. Generally most stock systems can handle the addition of the increased air thats why they notice some power differences.

In essence what needs to happen is to get an aftermarket airfilter, and a muffler/spark arrestor. The clutches are only going to alter the clutch engagements and shifting rates.

sorry for the misinterpretation but i was told that if you get a pipe without an airfilter you will not be able to tell a difference in power.

That is true to the extent that you are already maxmimizing the airflow with the stock pipe filter combination. That is why I said you need to increase both ends to get the most effect. There are several things that restrict the flow. filter, carb, cylinder, pipe, muffler/spark arrestor. The idea is to maximize the flow through the complete system. Usually this can be done in stages with a filter and muffler for stage 1. Stage two is usually a filter, carb, pipe, and muffler, stage 3 and up generally include stage two items plus some porting and cylinder work. Each stage focuses on maximizing the complete flow through the system. Just adding a filter and carb with the stock exhaust is just going to decrease your gas mileage with very little horsepower increase. To get the most from your system you need to look at the total flow not just one end.

Ritter Racing is the only company that I know that is making a pipe for the trail boss. Go to there website at RCR and give Rick a call. He doesn't list a pipe for the 325, but if you call him I think that he makes one for it. As for the 414 kit, by the time you get the kit and pipes installed, you could have sold the trailboss and bought a scrambler for the same money. Just my $.02.

Hey, thanks all for the quick responses. He does have a K&N along with the jet kit too. Sorry I left that out. I will call Rick, or give him the # since it's his bike , to find out more about the pipe. I was refering to the silencer/muffler and not necessarily the head pipe, again my appologies for leaving that out too. The 414 kit maybe the way to go, aside from a diff. machine that is. I think he is getting tired/upset since my other buddy and I can just leave him in the dust. Thanks again for the input guys!
