I didn't know it at first but a DS-650's reserve is like 30% of it's capacity. Seems kinda high... The day after I brought it home my friend & I were riding & it stalled twice. I started telling him how the dealer was gonna hear about this etc. So I try the reserve just to try it & surprise, surprise away I go

You may want to richen the slow jet up if it's "boggy" I had the same thing going on and some more fuel cleaned it up. It will also help the midrange SLIGHTLY by putting a little more fuel into the engine.
The diameter to lenght ratio or taper works to add more fuel as the slide is retracted in a linear fashion, ie: small displacment engines with more conservative porting will typically require less taper than a large engine with hogged out ports and long timing events.
If memory serves me, your engine was ported by HPD which tends to be wilder than RCR, who did mine. It would stand to reason that you engine would need a bit more fuel than mine, all other thing being equal. Are you pre mixing at 32:1 or 40:1 ?

Capt...wouldn't adding a 40 pilot jet just make it "boggier"? I thought "boggyness" was in fact caused by too much fuel?

I am mixing at 32:1 Klotz...damn that stuff smells!

Not if it's too lean. An overlean condition will cause a lack of response as well. It's a trial and ( hopefully not too much ) error type of process, even with the EGT gauge. You have to get your hands stinky, come to think of it, most of the things I really enjoy entail getting my mitts stinky...
