I just got my roller clutch today and will be installing it this weekend on my Sportsman 400.It the instructions it says to grind or cut the plastic buttons at an angle. My question is why cut at an angle?I called AAEN today both no one will be there till monday.I'd rather use nylon spacer instead of the plastic buttons. It would make more sence to cut the spacers flush with the bottom of the helix.

I just used a grinder and cut the plastic buttons untill they were flush with the surface of the sheave. It's been apart a few times since, and I've had NO problems. I would assume nylon spacers would work just as well. Basically with the roller kit the buttons are needed to help support the bolts more than anything.

Well I just installed my roller clutch yesterday. But since it is like 2 degrees out I haven't tested it yet. I used nylon spacers instead of trumming the buttons because the spacer I got were all exactly the same length. It is a great setup and the difference in opperation is like night and day. I got the AAEN blue spring and set it in #2 hole of both helix and sheave. I will probally wait for the snow to melt to finish tuning the clutch. I would highly recommend this kit!!

Hey Jay, wow 2 degrees huh? I'm happy when it warms up to -20. Really interested in the roller clutch now, after ordering a clutch kit from AAEN, spring and weights only though, and I haven't even got it yet to install it. Seems like there is a whole lot less to wear out, and more durable. Keep us clutchers informed as to your test results...
