Check your plug wire. If it's in good shape, then check your voltage in/out of your coil. Could be your coil or magneto/stator. I don't know the cost of these parts, maybe someone out there has replaced these parts and could give you est.

Samething happened to my buddys 97 Xplorer this weekend.
It turned out that the float was stuck in the carb. I
We wacked the side of the carb a couple times with a big wrench and it started right up. We're gonnna take it apart next weekend and clean everything out.
