Bought my 2000 325 TrailBoss in July of 2000 and it was my first quad I ever owned.

1. Replaced front right A-arm bushing = hit big tree
2. Replaced handle bars = rolled after hitting same tree
3. Replaced front bumper = same big tree, excuse to buy big DG bumper
4. Change oil & filter = ride it a lot
5. It always seems like I'm tightning up the chain.
6. Waiting for the chain to brake. I wore it flat and shiny (hung on a log) the first week I got it.
7. Suspension squeeks a lot. Sounds like a mouse on speed.
8. Bought new brakes but don't need them yet.

I grease it up once a month.
Change the oil when it needs it.
Check the tranny fluid almost evey time out.
I also spray it off after ever ride to check for any damage or loose items.

My friend has a 01 300ex that looks pretty bad and has had a fair share of problems, but I say they are do to rider error.

My 2001 TrailBoss bought July '01 broken parts include:

1) Broken Hand Brake Mount

2) Bent handle bars (x2)

3) Left side Swing arm loop(around carrier) boken on top and bottom.

4) Rear Aux. Brake pedal quit working... goes all the way to the floor with no resistance. Rear caliper still works with hand brake, but it sucks. I liked using the aux brake in turns to kick the rear around a little.

5) Stripped front sproket

6) Bent chain...Polaris replaced under warranty but forgot to put the master link loc back on. Chain fell off in the middle of the woods.

7)Throttle cable vibrated out of adjustment just enough to stick wide open crawling down a Rocky hill. This sent me rolling over twice and catching the bike from decending down over a 100ft drop into a hollow.

8) Swing arm bushings

9) R side Balljoint

Thats all I can think of now, but to look at my machine through 2 or three rollovers you can't even tell its been rode. Overall its been a tough machine.

02' SP700 (750 miles)

-Water pump cover (like everyone else)
-Electric fan "tik tok" switch (stick caught on wire harness and ripped wires off) - poor harness dressing
- Other than that, excellent machine.

------------------

02' SP 700 Grey / Black (stock)
99' Pont. GP GTP
90' GMC Z71 shortbed (700 barely fits)
85' Monte (many mods)
78' Z-28 Camaro 4spd (project)

Ride hard & don't look back.....

Well, I am going to make a harsh statement, but any machine is not going to take alot of abuse without breaking. Alot of parts listed by people are rider caused problems. I trail ride 2 wheelers alot and have had no broken welds, tie rods, or anything that does not normally break. Belts, breaks, and front wheel bearings on my used one is it for me. Naturally, the race modded one is a different story. Some of you guys must use these like tanks.Bubba

I still have my Trailboss and have not replaced anything else. I have not been riding as mush this year due to all my friends at work getting sport quads and me still in the back of the pack riding on the Trailboss. I can't wait to get rid of it or get the bore kit for it. I just want something that handles better and is faster.

I'm just listing things I had to replace. There are many aftermarket parts or parts I thought needed to be replaced for prevent maintanence.

-Front shocks
-Steering stem (many times due to roling the damn thing)
-Plenty of brake pads
-Just about every seal/gasket in the brake system (doing the brake lines now)
-The Drive belt and cover (the damn thing got so hot once, the cover melted)
-The water pump gasket leaked. (had to have Polaris dealer work on that one.)
-The stock tires and rims sucked. My stock tires looked like I planted trees in the side walls with all the plugs sticking out. (have gone to the aftermarket since)
-The front sprocket (Lost lots of teeth)
-Rear axle bearings

325trailboss, get rid of that thing and get a late model sport or scrambler 400 if you want to stay with the automatic. If you want to keep up with your buddies on their sport quads, even a big bore isn't the way to go. The bike is nose heavy and doesnt move agile enough. The scrambler body style turns much more freely and is much faster. I would look that route before spending the time and money on the big bore. Fearsys, I wander how that prop shaft got bent? That metal just gives way for no reason. You have had your problems for one of 2 reasons: Either you use the hell out of this thing and dont do routine enough maintenence, or you really abuse it badly. I guess the 3 replacement chains were all junk huh? The belts do not go out if your riding correctly in the right range. 5 belts would mean abuse to me. I managae a Sears Repair Center including lawn & garden, and i see alot of this and it upsets me. wear items like you have listed do not go out unless they are not maintained or they are overused. I am sorry to vent this on your posting, but I think a Kaw or anything else will give you the same results. It's funny that some of us dont go thought parts like others. Bubba
